Last April 5, 2024, the establishment of the UP Mindanao Quality Assurance Office (QAO) was approved by the Board of Regents during its 1388th meeting. Moreover, it was highlighted that a new academic program must first pass the quality assurance standards set by the constituent university's Quality Assurance Office before it is submitted for approval by the Board of Regents.

High level of excellence and professionalism in the university's instruction, research, and other processes, as well as ensuring its alignment with the national, regional, and global goals and standards is the key responsibility of the UP Min QAO.

The aim of the office is to strengthen the academic programs of UP Mindanao. Moreover, the main functions of the UP Mindanao Quality Assurance Office are the following:

  1. To spearhead the conduct of internal and external assessments of curricular programs and administrative systems and processes;
  2. To conduct QA trainings and orientations for internal stakeholders;
  3. To analyze, plan and develop activities that could help improve QA processes and systems; and,
  4. To set up an Information Management System for QA data, processes, and activities.

The appointed director of UP Mindanao QAO is Prof. Ritchie Mae Gamot. The office is situated at the Quality Assurance Office on the second floor of UP Mindanao Atrium Left Wing. The office can be contacted through its email: qao.upmindanao@up.edu.ph.
