The University of the Philippines Mindanao, through its Quality Assurance Office (QAO), successfully conducted an Orientation and Onboarding Session on the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS) today, May 16, 2025, via Zoom. The session was facilitated by UP Mindanao’s QMS Consultant, Mr. Perfecto Cagaanan Jr., and was attended by newly appointed unit heads, newly designated personnel, and other members of the teaching and administrative staff.

The session aimed to orient new personnel on the principles and implementation of the QMS and also served as a reorientation for staff who wished to refresh or deepen their knowledge of the ISO 9001:2015 standard. It supported the University’s ongoing commitment to aligning all offices with quality assurance practices and continuous improvement efforts.

Participants were introduced to key QMS concepts such as the process-based approach, risk-based thinking, internal audits, documentation control, and performance monitoring. The session also clarified the roles and responsibilities of process owners and support staff in sustaining compliance with the standard.
