From October 17 to 23, 2024, Associate Professor Ritchie Mae Gamot, Director of the UP Mindanao Quality Assurance Office, participated in the 17th AUN-QA Tier 2 Training, a specialized workshop for those who have completed Tier 1. The seven-day training began with training sessions at Seda Vertis North, Quezon City, and continued with observing a live programme assessment at Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU). During the live assessment, Professor Gamot observed the programme assessment for the BA in Interdisciplinary Studies.

The training brought together a diverse cohort from across Southeast Asia, with participants from the Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Brunei, and Malaysia. Leading the sessions were distinguished AUN-QA trainers: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tan Kay Chuan, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ornsiri Cheunsuang, Prof. Dr. Yahaya Md. Sam, and Dr. Nguyen Huy Phuc. Each of these trainers served as Lead Assessors for one of four ADMU programmes: the Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies, Bachelor of Arts in Communication, Bachelor of Science in Communications Technology Management, and Bachelor of Science in Chemistry.

Upon completing the training, Prof. Gamot was officially recruited as an AUN-QA programme assessor by the AUN-QA Secretariat. Prof Gamot will soon be tasked to assess degree programmes from ASEAN member countries. Attendance to AUN-QA assessors training is one of the several efforts of UP Mindanao to improve academic quality in the university.
